One of the most popular and well known Italian dessert.

Tiramisu` literally means “lift me up”

This simple recipe is the classic one as there are many varying versions

You can add some liquor in the coffee

Preparation: ½ hour


 COF015: Nescafe Instant Coffee Granules(Tin)-1x475g

 SPI211: Tate & Lyle Fairtrade Granulated Sugar (Single Pack)-1x1kg

SAU093: Freshers Cocoa Powder-1x500g

 500g Mascarpone

4 eggs (separate egg yolks from whites)

400g Savoiardi biscuits (or sponge fingers or boudoir biscuits)

 Step one:

Put the egg yolks in a bowl with 120g of sugar and beat with an electric whisk

Step two:

Add the mascarpone and whisk again until the mixture is smooth

Step three:

Put the egg whites in a bowl and beat until they form stiff peaks

Step four:

Using a spoon add the whites to the mascarpone mixture and gently fold them in

 Step five:

Prepare a strong black coffee then dip the biscuits in to the coffee and line the bottom

Step six:

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture on the layer of biscuits

Step seven:

Put the cocoa powder in a small tea strainer an dust the mixture

Step eight:

Make a second layer of soaked biscuits and spread with the other half of mixture and dust again

Put the tiramisu` in the fridge for at least 1 hour
